Los Angeles Residents: Go to Meshkin Medical for All Your Hair Restoration Needs
Although more common in men, hair loss is a problem anyone can experience for various reasons. We offer a range of hair restoration methods, providing you with multiple options to help regrow your hair.

Problems with thinning hair and baldness can affect how you see yourself, and you’re not alone.

Nearly 13 million Americans use some kind of hair product to address thinning and balding, but without professional help, your results can vary wildly. For real results, Los Angeles residents can turn to us at Meshkin Medical for effective hair restoration.

Losing 50-100 hairs a day is normal. In fact, by the age of 35, two-thirds of men start experiencing hair loss, and by age 50, 85% of men have significantly thinning hair.

Women are victims of thinning hair as well, making up 40% of the Americans dealing with the problem.

Residents of Newport Beach and Glendale, California, seeking ways to restore their hair can rely on the team of Dr. Michael Meshkin and Dr. Alister Meshkin, along with their experienced staff.

We have many proven hair restoration methods to address your hair loss. To help you find the one that works for you, we need to examine how hair grows, what causes hair loss, and how we can assist.

How hair grows

Each hair on your head grows through a four-stage cycle

  • Growing (anagen)
  • Transition (catagen)
  • Resting (telogen)
  • Shedding (exogen)

The growing phase is the longest, lasting up to eight years on your head, and the transition phase differs depending on where it grows. For example, eyebrow and pubic hairs go through a shorter transition phase than what’s on your scalp, which lasts about two weeks. In this phase, hair grows slowly, and the follicles shrink.

About 9% of your scalp hairs are in the resting phase at any given time, which lasts up to three months. New hair doesn’t grow in this period, but nothing falls out, and at this point, new hairs start forming in follicles.

The shedding phase extends the resting phase and is when the normal 50-100 hairs shed from your head. Combing, brushing, and washing promote some of this shedding. This phase lasts several months.

Hair loss causes

Alopecia is the broad term that describes hair loss and can result from short-term or long-term problems.

Short-term causes include:

  • Fungal infections
  • Hormonal changes
  • Nutritional deficiencies (not enough iron or protein in your diet)
  • Stress
  • Medical treatments (chemotherapy and certain medications)

Among the long-term causes are:

  • Genetics (family history)
  • Thyroid disease
  • Constant use of damaging hair care products (bleaches and perms)
  • Pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia)

Our hair restoration methods

To help you regrow your hair, here are some of the solutions we offer at Meshkin Medical in the greater Los Angeles area:

FUE

Follicular unit extraction is a transplant method that uses tiny, circular punches to extract follicles and implant hair where needed.

FUT

Follicular unit transplant is a similar technique, but it uses strips of hair follicles separated into units of one to three and then implanted at the balding or thinning site.

Propecia®

Propecia is an effective medical hair restoration solution that helps regrow hair and prevent hair loss. It’s a prescription oral medication that’s FDA-approved to treat male-pattern baldness, a hereditary condition common in men.

ACell® therapy

This is an injection of healing proteins and growth factors into your scalp to regenerate follicles and stimulate hair growth.

Our hair solution

Our unique formula — Meshkin Medical Hair Solution Compound — combines a high concentration of minoxidil with several other active ingredients to improve hair growth and slow hair loss.
